Extremely long day we had on Saturday, but a lovely one!
It was an entry of 28 for this Swedish judge mrs. Barbara Ruth Smith.

The day started with Ruuti's win in junior class with a cq. He was also BOB junior!

Then in was Raisu's go and he won the intermediate class with a cq and received res-cc!

Rocky was in champion class; exc-2 with a cq and finally 4th best male, in the finals he was excellently handled by Ari.

Hertta got a nice critique and was 3rd in champion class with a cq.

We felt confident showing our breeders class with the dogs that all gained cq, and Hi-Lite was BOB breeder with this statement from the judge:
"A very consistent group of high quality basenjis. The breeder should be congratulated. Wish them all the best for the future!" :)

We stayed for the finals and waited until late afternoon. Ruuti was shortlisted in the best 10 in the Roayl Canin junior competition out of an entry of maybe 80 juniors from different breeds?? It felt huge to see him gait there with Janne :) The judge was mr. Cochetti from Italy.

Our breeder's group managed also to get shortlisted among the 7 best out of some 40 different groups! The judge was mr. Doedjins from Nederlands.

The crowning of the day was to meet our sweet girl Lilja (Wow Factor). We haven't met her since she was 7 weeks but she surely remembered us :) She is just as beautiful as we remembered....

So thank you for this lovely day everyone who was there for us: Ari, Anu, Mervi and Tuija :)

Big boy Faruk went to a mental test

Yesterday we had an exciting day because we took Faruk, shy over 3 years, to a Finnish Mental Test (for working dogs). Central Asian Owtcharkas have to pass the test e.g. to gain their championship titles.
It's also very interesting in all other ways as well.

The test did not result anything new to us, nothing we did not already know about him. He did it all very nicely and is a very balanced dog in temperament.
His points were +176 (minimum is 75) and he can call himself now FI CH FIJW-10 FIW-10 Turkmen Stam Faruk :)

Here he is 2 years old:

This is the day we picked him up, he was 10 weeks:

Great health news!

The father of our planned litter next fall, Finny (Ankhu Baroos At Bulldobas), went to have his 3rd official eye check yesterday, and the result was, as expectet, clear!
So so happy :)

We love him very much, he was such a stunner already as a puppy:

So now all the needed checks are done, both papa Finny and momma Hertta are clear for fanconi and eyes, and both have normal thyroid values, plus Finny has excellent A/A hips.

May the fall and Hertta's season come.....

Tallinn Winner show 2013

We had the most hilarious and fun trip to Estonia, to Tallinn Winner show 2013!
It was Janne and I, we had Rocky and Raisu with us. Then also Hertta came along with her human family Mari & Timo plus their lovely young saluki girl Marla. So the one car was pretty full but we managed well :D

On Saturday mr. Jussi Liimatainen from Finland was judging the basenjis, entry 28.
Raisu won the junior male class of 4 with a jun-cc and a title TAL JW-13, and he was BOS-junior to his lovely half sister Lili from Estonia!

Rocky won the open class with exc and cq ending up being 3rd best male with a cc and he is now a brand new ESTONIAN CHAMPION!
Raisu managed to win his brother and was 2nd best male > our boys did a wonderful job.

Hertta was a bit too strong for the judge and was exc-3 in champion class out of 6.

But the best was yet to come.... Our breeders class was BOB-breeder out of 2 with the most wonderful critique:
"Very even in type and quality. Good proportions. Excellent colours. Lovely heads. Stylish, well balanced movements."

Cannot get any better?

Janne also showed the brace with Hula Hoops and Hot Rod:
"Quality dogs with excellent proportions. Beautiful shape of head. Stylish toplines. Excellent colours and coats. Excellent movers."
Result was BOB brace out of 2 :)

In the finals our breeders class was in the top 5, so close to get placed!
But Janne, Rocky and Hertta we chosen as BIS-1 Brace under judge mrs. Ann-Christin Johannson from Sweden!!! Amazing!

Ruuti is another BOB and CC winner!!

Had a lovely day with Tuija, Ruuti's owner at Liperi show. Ruuti's pedigree name is Hi-Lite Saturday Night Fever and we love him to bits!!! Luckily so did also the judge, mr. Markku Kipinä. This is the critique:

"Excellent type. Shows himself proudly. Good ear and wrinkle. Strong skull. Good muzzle. Beautiful neck. Good shoulders. Good depth of body. Excellent body. Excellent movement."

We waited for the finals and it was worth it as mr. Pekka Teini gave Ruuti Group-2!!! So the day was perfect :)

Congrats once more Tuija and Aki for taking such perfect care of him!
Here a picture of Ruuti at 7 months of age:

Rocky had an amazing Easter!!

I really don't know where to start....

On Sunday we had Rocky (Hi-Lite Hot Rod) entered to Korpilahti show. It was his first show for over 3 months and the first one after his 2nd birthday. We were wishing for his last cc to finish but the day gave us much more...

He was the best male and became a new Finnish Champion, we are very proud! He gained 15 Finnish ccs :)
It was a tough competition, as there were also 2 drop dead gorgeous daughters of our Duke bred by Bulldobas/Safeguard. Even the judge, mrs. Maija Mäkinen, said that they were all of high quality. Rocky won also BOB.

The group judge was also mrs. Mäkinen and she gave our golden boy the Best In Group!!!
Crowning of the day was Rocky's Best In Show win under judge mrs. Tanya Ahlman-Stockmari. Thank you so much both judges for making our day unforgettable!

Then on Monday Janne and I went to the traditional Easter show to Lappeenranta with our daughter Viivi. We had Rocky again and his "kid bro" Raisu entered. The judge was mr. Markku Kipinä, entry was 13.

This time it was Janne's turn to handle Rocky to his BOB win!! Young Raisu, the gorgeous mover he is, was 3rd best male with a cc!! This boy will need much more time to finish, let's see how he is then :D

Thank you judge and all our friends for this memorable weekend we had - we appreciate it a lot! Laura <3 her boys :)

Finally also Taira has gone to her home to Russia!

Last Thursday we said goodbye to our beloved Taira girl (Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wonderwall).
She will be much loved by Ekaterina and Larisa. We will also be able to see her one day again <3

Thank you for offering such a good home for our little princess!
