Year 2007 News

30/12 A short update; puppies and mom are doing great and the little ones are growing fast. We have added a new photo album for our dogs' progeny, you can find puppyphotos from there.

27/12 Tuuli's pups are here! She gave birth early on Thursday morning to 2 tricolour males, one red/white princess and 2 red/white males! Everything went smoothly and Tuuli seems to be a good and caring mom to these precious babies :) We are absolutely in love! Pics to be updated soon.

13/12 Puppy-news from Estonia, where beautiful Masha gave birth to strong and healthy r/w Timon-puppies, 2 boys and 2 girls. Congratulations Tiina for the first Solebas litter! We are so proud of you all :)

12/12 Happy birthday our precious little man Timon, 2 years today!

09/12 So now the amazing show year 2007 is over. Our beautiful dogs Tuuli and Timon gained e.g. 6 x BOB, 9 x BOS, 3 x Group Placement, 4 new titles, 8 x Cacib, 12 x CC... This surely is something huge for us! We wish all our "doggy" friends Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

08/12 What a lovely day we had again at the Finnish Winner 2007 show in Helsinki with all our friends. The judge was charming mr. Ben Reynolds-Frost from England. We had entered Timon to compete in intermediate class and among 7 dogs he was placed Exc 3, which we are very pleased about. I also had an opportunity to handle Timon's handsome little brother Bulldobas Rockin' Rhytm in junior males class, entry of 9 in this class. And he went on winning it with title Junior Winner 2007 and is also qualified to Crufts! The final result for us was to be the best Finnish dog as BD-2 with a res-cc :)) Congratulations his owner Marika!

30/11 Timon is a dad!! His beautiful bride Pitsi (Afrikenji Kisaria) gave birth this morning to 4 gorgeous puppies; 3 males and a female and they are all doing fine. Congratulations kennel Bulldobas :-) It's a week or so more to wait for Timon's Estonian puppies to be born to kennel Solebas. Waiting for the news!

22/11 Wonderful news! Took Tuuli to our vet today and had an ultrasound done to check out if there were puppies - and yes there were! Maybe 4 or 5 small ones could be seen :-)

21/11 A nice surprise for us in Finnish Kennel Clubs magazine called Koiramme (number 10/2007) - it was Tuuli there! Photo added to Tuuli's pics page.

18/11 Since Tuuli is on her "expecting-puppies" holiday it was only Timon who we had entered to big Jyväskylä Int show, entry 46 (few absent). The jugde mr. Tom Johnston (GBR) made us very happy and proud placing Timon as second best male (BD-2) with CC and res-cacib!! It was his 3rd time in row to win intermediate class. Thank you our friends for this wonderful day :-)

07/11 Finally received the results of Timon's hipscore test from Finnish Kennel Club: healthy B/B.

05/11 We had the most wonderful news from Estonia: Timon's beautiful bride Masha (Strong Stael Dea Angella) was ultrasounded today and there were some 4-5 puppies to be seen! Congratulations Tiina, we will keep our fingers crossed till the end.. :-)

02/11 Finnish Cup 2007 results of LC are here: Timon wonderdully 11th and Tuuli 17th, out of 49, so they both are invited to compete for the CVM-08 title next May!

27/10 A day to remember forever! Mrs. Sharron Taylor from Australia was invited to judge basenjis at big Lahti International show and as I assumed the entry was big - 42 basenjis! Timon was showing himself really proud and so he was placed on winning his class out of 5 with excellent :-) Tuuli competed in champion class and she won it! And not just that, she was placed as best bitch and she won also BOB, the best male was beautiful dog Bulldobas Finnish Flutesong!! I was so happy that I burst into tears, silly me.
From the show we drove to Tiina Taavitsainen to Muurame where we were planning on to mate Tuuli and Eino. The size difference turned out to be too much for these two, but luckily we had plan B: Soni, the BOS dog of today... They made a lovely, beautiful couple and the puppies are expectd just before New Year's! Naturally we have high hopes for this combination... let's just wait and see a bit more!

20-21/10 It's been quite some time since the last "doggy-action" weekend. On Saturday I drove to Seinäjoki Int show with my dear friend Heli and the dogs Tuuli and Eino - the couple soon to be :-) Basenjis were judged for the first time by the most charming and friendly gentleman, mr. Bengt-Åke Bogren, Sweden. He really liked our princess Tuuli and placed her as BB-2 with res-cacib! I was also honoured to handle gorgeous youngsters Bulldobas Rockin' Rhytm as BD-2 and a CC and tiny B. Rockin' Redhead (exc2). So a lovely day we had! On the other hand, Janne and Timon started the long boyz trip to Tromssa (Norway) early on Sat morning with our friend Pete and his podengos. The judging took place on Sunday afternoon and Timon made us proud once again by being BOS with cacib and CC!! The entry of males was 5, total being 8. Super thanks to judge mr. Svein Helgesen from Norway. So it definately was a trip worth to make :-)

13/10 Our darling Timon had a visitor today - lovely girl Masha (Int* Est Lv Ltu Blr Balt Ch, Est Lv Ltu Balt J Ch, BaltJV-06 Strong Stael Dea Angella) from Estonia! Puppies expected out of this lovely couple around 15th Dec, under prefix Solabas owned by Tiina Tootmaa. Added a photo to Timon's own photo page.

10/10 Tuuli finally started her season :) Now we are just counting days...

28-30/09 A happy announcement to make; we are expecting puppies!! Timon and Pitsi (Afrikenji Kisaria) said "I do" this weekend to each other :) This lovely couple will hopefully produce babies in the end of Nov. Now we just keep our fingers crossed! Added a pic of the newly weds to Timon's photo page.

27/09 The long waited results of dna fanconi testing came with pleasing results; both our dogs are healthy! Tuuli was tested as "probably clear/healthy" and Timon "probably carrier".

22/09 The lure coursing season ended today at Mikkeli race. Both our dogs took part, total entry of 8 basenjis. Timon did two very good runs being 3rd with great 482 points and a CQ. Tuuli's 2nd run was good too and she had another CQ with 426 points. Now we will wait for the next summer and the races then :-)

02/09 For the third time this summer it was time for some lure coursing. This time the competition was held in Kajaani and as a surprise the weather was pretty good; cold but sunny. The track was in this field where the grass was very long. This was very hard for Timon, who still made it to the final with total score of 415 and a cq, even though he fell twice! The placement was 4th. Tuuli did two very nice runs with very good 480 points being second with a cq as well :)

25/08 The great show success continued at big Tervakoski Int dog show! The total entry was 34 out of which 12 were pups. I was happy to handle handsome baby Nuuskis (B. Rockin' Rhytm) again as second best male puppy with honour price. Congratulations Marika! This time Timon was handled by his breeder Tiina and together they did beautiful job by Timon being second best male with res-cc and res-cacib! We are so pleased with this result :-) But the queen of the day was little Tuuli! Did she not just win BOB with the most excellent critique but was also placed in the huge group as second (BIG2)! Thank you breed judge mrs. Kristina Sahlström from Sweden for liking our princess so much and group jugde mr. Jukka Kuusisto (FIN).

12/08 Nice results again for us at Joensuu International show! The judge, mr Jouko Yrjölä, Fin, placed Timon as BD-4 and Tuuli ended up being second best bitch (BB-2) with a res-cacib!

05/08 On Sunday we had an all breed show in the "neighbourhood", in our hometown Kuopio. The day was perfect for us! First we were happy to be able to handle two babies, lovely young gentleman Bulldobas Rockin' Rhytm and his beautiful sister Bulldobas Rockin' Redhead as BOS- and BOB-puppies :-) Well done kiddos! Then it was adult dogs' turn and fine they did, Timon won the males having his 7th CC and Tuuli was best of bitches. So they ended up competing for the BOB title, which was handed to Timon! And that just wasn't it, later on he went on winning BIG-3!!! We were soooo happy :-). Breed and group judge was mr. Miroslav Redlicki from Poland.
21/07 What a wonderful day we had today at Jyväskylä international LC race :-) Both our dogs had their first CCs in lure coursing on this extremely hard track. Tuuli was 2/11 bitches with total score of 464 and Timon won the males, there were 9 of them. His total points were 456! They have proven to be very good coursers, even though they still are amatours and beginners, at least to us; it was Tuuli's 4th race and Timon's 2nd, out of which they have always received at least CQs. This is a verrry nice "hobby" for us all!

07/07 We have a Swedish Champion! On Friday morning it was Janne, me, Tipi (Taavitsainen) and Tiina (Aaltonen) and four of our dogs that started the trip to Swedish Basenjiclubs 30 Years Jubileum Show. After a long ferry trip from Turku (Fin) to Sweden and even longer cardrive down to Skara we finally were there around midnight. Next morning (after heavy raining night) it was time for the show, the jugde was lovely lady mrs. Cheryl Myers-Egerton of Conamore Basenjis (Canada). Timon was nicely 5th with honour price in this very high classy intermediate class. He also received an invitation to the best head competition, so one of the 10 best headed adult basenjis he was, which we are very proud of! I had entered Tuuli in open class and it was a huge amount, 17 bitches in her class! Tuuli won her class with style receiving also an invitation to the best gait competition and a ck of course :-) In the end she won all the other bitches but one being BB-2 with CC that made her a brand new Swedish Champion! I think there is no better way to finish a title than in a Specialty show?! She was also awarded the best import in show :-) In just six months she has finished three different titles - our little princess.
The other dogs at our party did also at least well ;-), Soni being 3rd in open class and beautiful Diva BOS! Special thanks to our dear friends Tipi and Tiina with your company on this very nice, successful and WET trip. It was also so nice to meet our friends and get to know new basenji people, too!

30/06 We took a holiday trip to Pärnu, Estonia with our children and the dogs, since there was an international dog show there. The entry of basenjis was 10 and again we had a successful day! First Timon won the intermediate class with exc and was placed as BD-2 with res-cacib, which will be confirmed as cacib later on :-) So this is his second cacib. Then it was Tuuli's go to win all the bitches and to be BOS with cacib as well! Besides all this, they both had suberb critiques; Thank you judge mr. Helge Lie, Norway.

15/06 Happy bithday our precious daughter Viivi, she is a 3 years old little lady now :-) We also want to congratulate Tuuli's sister Jinja and her owners David and Helen for having a sweet little pack of puppies today in Australia. More information in Afrikenji homepage.

13/06 Our darling princess Tuuli is 3 years today!

09-10/06 The Finnish Basenji Specialty 2007 was held in Kiljava, Southern Finland and the judge was mrs. Jill Avis from Great-Britain. This was the first time that our specialty show was held on a weekend, which was a wise decision because of the huge entry of dogs, over 130! Puppies and males were judged on Saturday. Hansu handled Timon's beautiful little brother Nuuskis (Bulldobas Rockin' Rhytm) in baby puppies class and then his sister Liina (Bulldobas Rockin' Redhead) also in baby puppies class. Liina showed herself amazingly winning the huge class of 20 baby bitches and being Best of Opposite Sex Puppy in Show :-). When the adults classes started we finally knew that the jugde was going to be very strict... Timon competed in intermediate class being 3rd out of 8 dogs, and they all had very good. On Sunday there were 54 bitches and ONLY 5 received excellent! Janne handled pretty Milla (Bulldobas La Soprano) as vg-4 in champion class. We were thrilled that Tuuli was one of the bitches the judge liked and was given an exc :-) and in the end she was best bitch-3! Our princess made the day perfect! Thank you all our friends for your company and for this lovely weekend. Some photos will be added soon.

02/06 The first LC race of the summer took place today in Kuopio in a hot and sunny weather. It was Timon's first race and he did so well running fast and eagerly having total points of 231+246=477! This gave him the second place with a qc and a new title "The lure coursing champion of Pohjois-Savo kennel district 2007". Tuuli is also a very fast runner and her totalpoints were 454 with a cq as well. That was her 3rd race and she has obtained a cq from each and every one of them. We were so pleased of the days results :-)

26/05 What a busy day we had! Early in the morning we took Tuuli and Timon to have their eyes officially checked. And the results were most pleasing; the vet couldn't find anything from Timon's eyes (boy he tried to ;)) and Tuuli had only one minor PPM-strand!
As we had entered and paid for our dogs to Iisalmi national show before we knew the date for eyetesting, we didn't want to miss the show if only our dogs were ok. And ok they were in the afternoon while the judging took place. It was first time for mr. Harto Stockmari (Fin) to judge basenjis and he did just fine. He placed our dogs as Timon BD-2 with res-CC and Tuuli was BB-2 with lovely critiques (that can be found at the dogs own sites in show results part). After the show we went to visit our friends Tuija and Petri Hynynen of Irezumi podengos. We also took the dogs out to the field to do some lure coursing, just a short run to train upcoming Saturdays LC competition. It will be Timon's first race, we'll see how it all goes. Thank you Tuija and Pete for all your help and hospitality!

17/05 I went to a match show today with our precious old and charming gentleman, Arttu the great boxer. And he still has got it - the great side movement! He went all the way winning the veterans and in the end was placed as BIS-4! I was also honoured to handle Timon's 4 month old, beautiful little brother Bulldobas Rockin' Rhytm (out of same dam) in puppies class, and the result was great for this first timer-winning the blue ribbon puppies (out of 23)! As I had two dogs that I should have taken to BIS-ring, I took Arttu (BIS-4) and Nuuskis finished BIS-3 with his owner in the big ring! Congratulations Nuuskis and Marika :-)
12/05 Oulu national show. The weather today was hardly good for a basenji to be shown. Just some degrees of plus and raining... Judge mrs. Anita Lindroos liked Tuuli anyway and gave her Excellent and placed her as BOS! Tuuli's last four shows in Finland have given her 1 x BOB and 3 x BOS, so we are more than proud of our little princess :-) Timon had VG1 this time.

06/05 Timon was excellent also today at Tohmajärvi show judged by mrs Saija Juutilainen, FIN. He was BD-2 with res-cc!

05/05 Timon wins another BOB! Today we went to Leppävirta group show to be judged by mrs Ligita Zake, Latvia. The entry of basenjis was 3+3 and the judge liked our dogs so much that she placed them as Timon BOB with his 6 th cc and Tuuli BOS to him! Such a nice day it was :)

28/04 Today was again worth spending the whole day at a dog show in Kiuruvesi. Both Tuuli and Timon were judged by mr. Markku Mähönen, FIN. Timon was the king of the day winning his first BOB award with cc. Tuuli was best of the bitches and BOS. How happy we were! And it wasn't just that; In the group final the judge, mr. Esko Nummijärvi, thought that Timon was worth placing - as BIG-3!!! So quite a day we had :)
Another thing, Timon entered 5 shows in April and won cc from every one of them, and was beaten by only once by one Russian Ch male! Way to go Timon!

21-22/04 This weekend there were 2 international dog shows in St. Petersburg, Russia. This time it was Janne's turn to go abroad to show Timon and Tuuli. He went there together with our friends Petri of Irezumi podengos and Sanna of Tiger's Chaos whippets. Both days there was more than 20 basenjis entered! On Saturday our handsome boy Timon surprised us by winning all the males being BD-1 and BOS with cacib and cc, which will make him a new Russian Champion once he finishes his Fin ch title later on :-) Tuuli did fine being second in ch class with res-cc and as far as we know this will make her also a brand new Rus Ch! The judge was from Argentina. Sunday was almost as good for Timon, who was BD-2 with res-cacib and his second cc in Russia! Judge mrs. Zola Rawson, GBR, thinks he is a very promising young dog. Tuuli's wintercoat didn't impress the judge so much this time and she got vg. So what Janne and the dogs brought home was 1 x cacib, 1 x res-cacib, 2 x cc and 1 x res-cc! Thank you Pete and Sanna for great company and for this very nice and successful trip.

12/04 Happy bithday darling Arttu - 10 years today and still going STRONG :))

08/04 Today we had a day we've never had before! At Lappeenranta National Show the judge was mrs. Annukka Paloheimo FIN, and the total entry was 4+4. First Janne took Timon into the ring and he won the junior class with excellent. And after all the other males Timon was placed BD-1 with his second CC in the row! (2 CC's in one week for him) Well done our boys :) Then I took Tuuli who won the champion class bitches with exc and in the end she was BB-1. How exciting! So it was our dogs compiting for the BOB title. This time it was Tuuli's turn to win BOB Timon being BOS to her! It was a perfect day for us and to our lovely dogs. We couldn't be happier :)

01/04 Our sweet and happy little fellow Timon got his first cc at Korpilahti groupshow! The judge, mrs Anneli Sutela FIN, placed him also as best of males and in the end he was BOS! We are so happy! You can read the critique at Timon`s own page.

31/03 Our dogs did good job and took part to Finnish research of genetigs by giving their bloodsamples.

29/03 We had some very good news from our vet: both Tuuli and Timon's thyroidtest results came and everything is normal and TgAA shows negative as well!

24/03 Huge Tampere international show, total entry of basenjis 58. The judge mr Greg Eva from RSA was quite tough while judging. So we are pleased that Tuuli was 3rd in Championclass with exc and Timon got vg this time.

09-12/3 No matter how many times I had visited England before, this was my first time at Crufts. Tiina and I went to Manchester on Friday and stayd at Tom Rabitte's, Woodella basenjis. Basenjis were judged on Saturday by mr. Hans Lehtinen from Finland. I had so much fun there, enjoying the atmosphere and meeting new basenji people. Hope to get back there next year, too. I want to thank Tom and Robert for their hospitality and Tiina for great company on our wonderful trip!!

28/02 Lovely news from Finnish basenji club: Tuuli was the 3rd most winning bitch year
2006 in Finland and Timon the 4th most winning puppy 2006! We are absolutely thrilled :)

24/02 Our sweet boy Timon kept up the good work he has been doing at Tuusniemi group show. He was placed from junior class as BD3 by mr. JAU Yrjölä. Well done!

11/02 At this extremely cold weekend Hansu took Tuuli to Tallinn, Estonia to an international dog show. The total amount of basenjis entered was 8 out of which 5 were bitches. And the romanian judge mr. Cristian Stavarache's desicion of the best bitch was more than delightful to us. He placed Tuuli as BB-1 with cacib and cc so from now on she is also Estonian Ch! We are more than happy with our little princess! We also want to congratulate Vesa and Bruno for being finally BIG-2 and thank Salla for keeping me company :)

04/02 Keuruu groupshow, judge Mr Esko Nummijärvi, Fin. Tuuli was the only one of our dogs entered to this show this time and the result was so nice again. First she won the champion class with excellent and ended up finally being BB3! Thank you Heli for handling her nicely since we couldn't make it this time ourselves. You can find the critique from Tuuli's page.

21/01 Today I took Timon to a match show in Kuopio, just to practise and the result was fine. He ended up being the 3rd best out of 35 young dogs!

06/01 Kajaani int show, judge mrs. Elina Tan-Hietalahti, Finland. We had only Timon entered because we knew Tuuli wouldn't like the cold fair site at all. Janne handled Timon nicely and the result was great! First he won the junior male class with excellent and finally ended up being BD2 with resCC. You can read the critique from Timon’s own page. Timon want’s to congratulate his cousins Diva and Tepi for finishing their Fin Ch- titles with cacibs, Diva being BOB! Happy and succesfull year 2007 to all our friends!
