The best Christmas present ever..

Got a phone call from Minni's co-owner at 2.30 AM on Christmas Eve and started driving fast in the snow storm... The birth was very easy and all the puppies were born by 6.30. Minni is being an excellent mother to her 5 sons and 1 girl :)

The puppies look just adorable and are strong and healthy and gaining weight. There was a need for more girls, but as only 1 is here, she will stay with her mom.

Her co-owner Katja started to measure the temperature yesterday and it seems that the puppies will arrive before Christmas.... We are soooooo excited and cannot wait for the little princess and princesses to arrive :)))

2 Junior Winners!!!

Last weekend we had the biggest dog show event in Finland, the yearly winner shows in Helsinki.
On Saturday the judge mrs. Säde Hohteri fell in love with our young Rocky, well at least that's what we think she thought when reading the critique of Rocky... ;)
So he won the junior class and got the title Helsinki Junior Winner 2011!!

The others entered on Sat was Hertta, who got vg and CAO Faruk, who had g.

On Sunday the jugde was mr. Cox from Ireland. This time Rocky was again the best Finnish junior male, excellent 2. The winner was his Estonian cousin, both most handsome youngsters! Maisa was 3rd in the big champion class, with cq.

Our princess today was Hertta, who can now call herself Fi Jw-11 Hi-Lite Hula Hoops!! She moved and looked beautifully and won the junior class of 6 girls. We are so very proud of these young dogs and are grateful to their co-owners Mari and Laura!

Show weekend in Jyväskylä

And this weekend surely offered us some success as well :)
On Saturday the judge was mrs. Brenda Banbury from England. First our handsome youngster Rocky won the junior class and later on went 4th best dog with res-cc! All the Champion class boys before him make us proud too; as the best male was Tuuli's son Karma, 2nd best was Timon's son Jaro, who finished his Fi ch-title and 3rd was Rene - that is awesome!!
Also Robbe, Timon's Swedish born son was awarded cc-quality, beautifully handled by Janne :)
The queen of the day was anyway Maisa, winning BOB and later on the day also Group-2 under the same judge!! We felt amazing because of this great win - thank you <3

On Sunday Rocky was again 4th best male with a cc, this time judged by mr. Tino Pehar from Croatia. He got a lovely critique; and this was his 3rd official show in Finland, he has gained nicely 2 x cc and a res-cc!
Duke was 4th in ch class with a cq and Maisa was 2nd best bitch with res-cacib. Timon's young and promising son Robbe, a half brother to Rocky, won res-cc! Another Timon-son, German visitor Jaro, was BOB this day - congratulations Marcel and Tiina <3

Our trip to Tartu, Estonia

Travelling abroad is mostly fun. Extremely tiring but fun! And so was this one also. Was so happy to make this trip with my friend Ari and his basenjis Finny and Siiri. I had the youngsters Rocky and Hertta with me.
There were 2 international shows and on Saturday the judge was from Italy, mr. Claudio de Giuliani. He fancied Rocky a lot as he made him first to win the junior class, then he went BOS-junior, to his sister, and was finally 2nd best male! Hertta-the-sister won BOB-junior title and obviously they both got junior ccs.

Mr Anatoli Zhuk from Belarussia was judging basenjis on Sunday and Rocky got an excellent also this time and Hertta was BOS-junior and to my pleasure she went all the way to 2nd best bitch (out of 10 out of which 4 were champions and she did beat them all!)!
I was honoured to help Ari in the BOB-BOS ring as Finny was best male and Siiri was best bitch from open class. So the trip was very successful and great from the beginning - thank you once more dear and congrats :))

Success at Seinäjoki International Show!

As I was unable to take the dogs to the show as was playing ice-hockey for the whole weekend, Janne was lovely enough to make this exhausting trip with Papa-to-be-Duke, Maisa and daughter Hertta, helped by her owner Mari :)

The judge was mr. Unto Timonen. First out it was time for our lovely yougnster Tico(Hi-Lite Honky Tonk) to enter junior class for the first time after a very successful career in puppy classes. He was beautifully handled by his owner Niina and first won the class with excellent and cq! Later on Tico was 3rd best dog with a res-cc!!! So proud of you guys :))

Also handsome Lego (Hi-Lite D'Light Bulldobas) was entered and he got a cq as well, 3 shows and 3 x cc quality gradings ;)
Then Janne took Duke (ch Kimwitu's Duke E) into the ring, and he did nothing less than finally won Best male with a cacib!!!

Then, princess Hertta (Hi-Lite Hula Hoops), full of joy as always ;) gave Janne a bit hard time in junior bitch class, but a convincing win with excellent and cq!
Momma-Maisa (ch Bulldobas Crown Jewel) was 2nd in champions and and finally 3rd best bitch - beaten by her daughter who was 2nd best bitch with a cc!! We are naturally more than thrilled and most happy.

Red/white puppies expected on 27th December!!

Finally some puppy news :)



Our beautiful, elegant and long legged girl Minni (Hi-Lite D'vine Bulldobas) was mated yesterday to the most handsome basenji boy Duke (BISS Fi ch, FiW-09, FiJw-09, NordJw-09 Kimwitu's Duke E).
This litter has been planned from Spring 2011 so it's been carefully pampered and thought through...
Minni has been very sparingly shown, only 7 times and she still has gained one cc and 3 x res-cc. We are very proud of our ultrafeminine looking girl!!
I guess papa Duke doesn't need much praising. Since the first time he put his paws into the show ring he has been one of the absolute top boys in Finland. He makes us soooo proud all the time!

These puppies are due just after Christmas.

A little update on puppy plans 2011

It is very hard to wait for something you want so much :)))
So the mom-to-be Alli (Kingwanas Greatest Story Of All) has not started her season yet.
But she will come to us next weekend to wait a bit more.. hopefully just a bit!
We will tell right away when she starts her heat.
Isn't she gorgeous?

Finnish Sighthound Specialty success

We had a long but lovely day in Tampere. There were 27 adult basenjis entered for mr. Stephen Wheeler from Sweden. And it was time for our kiddos Rocky and Hertta to compete against the adults at the age of just 9 months.
First out in the ring was Rocky, who's mom Laura was so kind to take him there :) Rocky was behaving quite nicely and he won the junior class with excellent and cq! Then we had to wait for the best male competition, and excited we were as Rocky won best male with the very first cc!! Great second was his half brother Jaro (Bulldobas Blockbuster), Timon's German living son visiting Finland for a while.

Then it was Hertta's go, and I mean really a go-go ;) She took perhaps a few decent steps to charm the judge as she also won the junior bitch class of 4 with excellent and a cq! A great win for us after behaving... happy? LOL

Momma Maisa was 2nd in ch class with a cq as well and in the best bitch competition both girl were placed; Maisa 3rd and daughter Hertta 4th with res-cc!

Then it was time for choosing Best of Breed and Rocky was BOS to beautiful Siiri (Bulldobas Cute As A Button) - congrats Ari and breeder Tiina!

The day was more than perfect; thank you so much everyone for your company and taking such good care of our little babies :)

Vantaa show + puppy classes over

The fall is coming closer and the outside shows are almost over for us. At Vantaa national show there were almost 40 basenjis entered for mr. Augustin Ionescu from Romania. We had only boys with us this time, Rocky in the puppy class for the last time and champ Duke.
The day was split half when thinking about success for the boys; Duke was 4th in his class and Rocky was doing great also this time... winner of the class of 6 and finally BOS-puppy :)) He is our pride and joy! Hopefully also in the future...



We are extremely proud of Timon's sons, after Rocky there was 2nd his Swedish born son Robbe with hp of course. He looked marvellous with Janne and we are certain he will also have a bright future ahead of him :)


So now the puppy classes are over for our last winter's litter of Maisa x Timon. Hertta-the-only-girl won 3 x BOB-puppy and 1 x BOS-puppy, Tico-the-sweet-little-man entered 4 shows and resulted 3 x BOB-puppy and 1 x BOS as well, and Rocky went to 6 shows. First at the Specialty he won the baby class of 9 with hp, and then he went to 5 shows and was convincingly 3 x BOB and 2 x BOS-puppy. We cannot wait these puppies to enter the adult rings :)

Tervakoski heat

A long and very warm day yesterday at Tervakoski International show where the basenji judge was mr. Frank Kane from GBR. The entry for him was great, 9 puppies and 30 adults.

Rocky was the first one out in the ring and looked marvellous winning the class with hp.

His sister Hertta looked beautiful and was 2nd best bitch puppy with a prize of honour!

In the adult we only had Maisa entered and she was behaving extremely beautiful and was 3rd best bitch.

The day was great altrough as Maisa's brother Rene was BOS and Timon's grandson Svante (Solebas Crown Of Love) was 2nd best male puppy and also Timon's Swedish born son Robbe (Yulara Quickthorn) was 3rd, both with honour prizes :)

The day was so lovely at the ringside and everybody was enjoying themselves so what a nice day it was! Thank you Mirva for your company on our trip.

Heinola & news from Sweden

Great news! Went to a Heinola National all breed show; Janne, I and Viivi the daughter. Had a lovely day with all the friends and the results here: Hertta BOB-puppy, Rocky BOS-puppy, Maisa BOS (to her brother Rene!) and Faruk-the-CAO BOB with a cc. We were/are so happy!! The judges for basenjis was mr. Jens Utke Ramsing and for Cao his wife mrs. Lisbet Utke Ramsing from Denmark.

We also had lovely news from Sweden, where Timon's son Yulara Quince started his show career this weekend. On Saturday at the Swedish Winner show he was 2nd best male pup with hp and on Sunday at Eskilstuna Int he went all the way to BIS-3 puppy!!! Congratulations everyone involved and good luck also to the future :)

Timon's son Yulara Quickthorne attended his first show in a puppy class from 7-9 months at Turku show and mr. Johan Juslin chose him to be BOS-puppy! Very proud we are - congrats Katja & Eija :)

Joensuu INT & Siikajoki

Joensuu International show was again successful to us. A small but nice triplet of dogs with us this time. Faruk went on winning BOB-junior with excellent under judge mr. Rui Oliveira. Basenjis were judged by mr. Kenneth Edh from Sweden. We were told that he knows basenjis very well and are proud to announce that mother and daughter Maisa and Hertta were chosen as BOB and BOB-puppy! Maisa also got a cacib and Hertta statement "very promising" :)

This wasn't just all; got a phone call from Niina. Tico went also BOB-puppy at Siikajoki show under world know judge mr. Rainer Vuorinen. He gave Tico a fabulous critique and said that he is most promising :) Congrats Niina & Mari <3

2 x Kuopio INT

The 2 day International show in our hometown Kuopio. First out on Saturday was Faruk, who we did show to mrs. Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen from Finland. She adored Faruk's beautiful construction, proportions and movement and gave him BOB with another cc and a very first cacib out of the first try!! He is most handsome big dog :)

On Sunday the basenjis were judged by mrs. Elina Haapaniemi (FIN). She is known to be quite strict judging and we were quite uncertain before the ring. There were 5 puppies in the ring and handsome Rocky-boy won the males and beaufiful sister Hertta was 2nd in females. Rocky was the BOB-puppy winner! No wonder as he showed himself like a pro with Janne :))
Sweet mister Nikke got excellent-1 in intermediate class and Duke won champion class with cq being the best male with cacib! Maisa was the only lady of ours in the ring and held the flag high; best bitch with cacib and also BOB to Duke who was BOS :) All the critiques, as always, can be found at each dogs' show results page. Thank you judges for this great weekend and all our dear friends once again, you keep the doggies in tip top shape and condition <3

Helsinki INT

Also Rocky got to start his show career today as he is 7 months now. we went for a quick trip to Helsinki International show under judge mr. Hans Almgren from Sweden and he adored Rocky as the prize was BOB-puppy with an excellent critique :)) We are so very proud of this young fellow!
Maisa was 3rd best bitch this time. Had so much fun with good friend the whole day - thank you everyone and special thanks to Laura for keeping Rocky in tip top shape!

2 x Oulu INT

On Saturday at Oulu Int it did rain the whole day. Of course this was not a problem to our CAO Faruk who was judged by mrs. Poduschka-Aigner from Austria. She praised him a lot and gave him BOB-junior and BOB!! :) We are very proud of him.
Basenji judge was mr. Walkey from Canada and first out were the puppies. Tico got prize of honour and then it was Hertta's turn in girly class with hp as well. Hertta got BOB-puppy this time and Tico BOS :-) They both showed themselves as great as possible in the rain. They got wonderful critiques.
We showed only Nikke (HL Dashing Bulldobas) in males and he was BEST MALE-1 with cc and his first cacib! In bitches Maisa won with cacib and Minni was 3rd best bitch with res-cc :) This time it was Nikke's turn to win BOB - needles to say we were extremely happy of the days results :)) 

Sunday was again a warm and looong day. Faruk repeated Saturday's result and the judge from Canada said he is a lovely and most promising dog :) It was Faruk's cc number 5.
Mrs. Anneli Sutela (FIN) was the judge of basenjis. This time Tico was BOB-puppy and Hertta BOS-puppy, great critiques for both :)) They did perform like pros! Nikke got excellent again and Maisa was BOB with cacib. She was also shortlisted in the group. The whole weekend was lovely to us, not just resultwise but with our dear friends as well - thank you and congratulations everyone! 

Liminka group show

Wonderful show weekend started at Liminka group show, where we had 2 dogs to show. Now it was time for Tico (Hi-Lite Honky Tonk) to hit the rings at the age of just 7 months. And he did it like a pro; with BOB-puppy prize :) We were sooo happy to see him for the first time when he left us as a puppy and loved what we saw! Congratulations to his owners Niina and Petri!
Then it was Minni's go in the adults, she got excellent with cq and was best bitch and got her first cc!! Great job Minni and Katja :) The lovely judge today was charming mr. Jo Schepers from Holland. BOB was Tuuli's handsome son Bulldobas Catch The Wind!!

Juva all-breeds

Duke is on a roll!! At Juva national show today he wins another best of breed for judge mrs. Marianne Baden from Denmark. She told that Duke is "a high quality dog", true ;) Later on Duke was also shortlisted in the big ring! Also sweet Minni was entered and got the most lovely critique and excellent in grading, she is a sweetheart!!

Swedish Basenji Specialty

Popped in to the Swedish Basenji Specialty held close to Göteborg with Tiina and her dogs Neela and Rene plus my Maisa and Duke. The judge there was mr. Hans Lehtinen from Finland. Maisa had most success of our dogs, she was 3rd best bitch with res-cc out of 33 bitch entries! She was also invited to compete for the best movement - So proud of her :)) Also Duke got excellent with cq. Out trip went great from the beginning and we had so much fun together, with our friends and specially at the dinner on Saturday evening. Thanks for the company once again Tiina!

Finnish Basenji Specialty

Finnish Basenji Specialty 2011, judge breeder judge mrs. Val Allen of Zordia Basenjis from Great Britain. Duke is a SPECIALTY BEST IN SHOW WINNER!! 

But let's start from the beginning. First out in the ring were puppies. Rocky and 8 other baby boys entered the 5-7 month old class. Rocky, as unexperienced he is, behaved beautifully and the judge also loved his head, so he won the class :)) Finally he was chosen as the 2nd best male puppy in show. What a great start to his career :)
Sister Hertta behaved also very very nice when stacked and gaiting by herself, but she was having a bit too much energy to gait properly in the crowd, so she was not placed. But her critique was very promising and pleasing. We were also able to meet 2other lovely puppies, who were a son (Yulara Quickthorn) and a grandson (Solebas Crown Of Love) of Timon. They both looked most promising! The next dogs we handled were Timon and Duke in champion class of males. Timon was exhausted by the heat and was almost asleep in the ring and got vg. Duke on the other hand showed himself great and won the class ending up best male!! We were sooooo thrilled of his success.
 

On Sunday was the judging of bitches. Tuuli was a bit chubby for the judge this time and got vg and Maisa was "5th" with cq in a big champion class. So then we started to wait for the Best in Show competition with Duke. He kept on showing and most of all gaiting superbly and won Specialty Best In Show :)) We were so excited, happy and thrilled of his big win as the entry of adult basenjis was almost 100! So the weekend was perfect for us, we could not have even dreamed of this and the journey home was very happy. Thank you all our friends for your support and great company during the weekend :) And congrats also to Duke's co-owners Eila and dear Tiina!! Thank you also for Mari and Laura for keeping such great care of our puppies - as well thank you judge mrs. Allen :)

Match Show with Hertta & Rocky

We went to a local match show with our lovely puppies Hertta and Rocky, the entry was something 60. And the young ones did superb at the very hot weather. Rocky won the puppies followed rigth after by his sister Hertta!! And in the end Rocky was Best In Show-3! This was excactly the same placing which sister Hertta got a couple of weeks back at another local match show. Great job kids :-)))

Varkaus all-breeds

Varkaus National show very close to us so we were there both days. On Saturday and in pouring rain it was the judging of basenjis under judge mrs. Jean Lanning from GBR. Joonas started it our for us getting another excellent in grading, well done boy! Gorgeous Duke was bm-3. Our smart moving co-owned junior bitch Minni won her class with excellent and cq and she finally was bb-3 with res-cc :-))) Maisa showed herself beautifully despite of the horrible rainy weather and went to win best bitch and BOS to her handsome brother Rene!! So a great day it was for all of us!! 

On Sunday we had Faruk in the ring. The judge mr. Michael Leonard from Ireland was very strict judging, but still gave Faruk "all", that is BOB with cc number 3!!! In the group finals he presented himself nicely but as he is totally "naked" at the moment, no more success this time. But it was a wonderful weekend with loads of lovely people and good friends :)

Helsinki INT

Another lovely day at Helsinki Int show with good company :-) Maisa is on the roll and won BOB with cacib!! The judge mr. Simon Parsons gave her a flattering critique, thank you! She was also shortlisted in the group finals. Thank you Tiina for breeding our sweet butterfly and trusting her to us and thanks for the company Tipi and Mirva!! C u soon :-))

Äänekoski group show

It was soooo much worth going to Äänekoski group show today with Maisa and the first timer Joonas (Hi-Lite Dating Bulldobas). The breed judge was mrs. Susanne Wendell (FIN) and Maisa won BOB #2 this season! Joonas did also well and got excellent in grading, but must still be trained a bit more ;) In the group finals Maisa was 2nd best in group under judge mrs. Leila Kärkäs (FIN) who is a breeder judge :-)) Thank you judges and Tiina & Johanna for this successful day!!

Lappeenranta INT

Lappeenranta Int show gave us some nice results as well. Maisa won BB-2 with res-cacib and Nikke won the intermediate class exc-1! The judge was mrs. Hanne Laine Jensen from Denmark and the entry was 23.Added all the critiques from the weekend and a nice photo of 4 month old Tico (Hi-Lite Honky Tonk). We were lucky to meet also Hertta and Rocky this weekend and they both look just lovely!

Lahti INT

A super show weekend at Easter time started at Lahti International Show and what a rocket start for Maisa's shows for year 2011: She won BOB out of 40 basenjis under judge mrs. Carmen Haller from Canada :-))) Great job she did after over 7 months show break and her puppies born in Dec. The day was fantastic otherwise as well; Maisa's brother Rene won BOS, Duke was 4th best male and young Nikke was exc-1 with cq in junior class. The crowning of the day was Bulldobas breeders class BIS-4 placement!! Congrats Tipi and thank you dear friends with your lovely company throughout the day. Special thanks to Taru for keeping me company :-)

Vaasa INT

We stopped our tiny show brake and entered to Vaasa international show where the judge was mr. Svein Helgesen from Norway. Entry was 18 and the news are fabulous: first Lego (Hi-Lite D'Light Bulldobas), who has by the way grown up into a handsome young man, won the junior class with excellent and qc. Duke then won the ch class with cq and we were sooo excited in the best male competition as Duke was 1st with cacib and Lego 2nd with cc!!!! It was Lego's 2nd show and 2nd cc ;) Super sweet black beauty of ours, Alli, was exc2 with cq in junior class. In the end Duke won BOB - we are so proud and happy about him. In the group finals he was also shortlisted among the best ones.

At the same trip Janne visited Faruk's breeders with our "little boy". We are pleased that he got nice criqitue from his breeder :-)

Alli's health results

The black beauty Alli (Kingwanas Greatest Story Of All) has had some health testing done with eyes having minor ppm and her thyroids are normal as well - great!

News from Sighthound Club

We received a lovely letter from our local sighthound club telling that Maisa was the number 1 show dog 2010!! We value this "title" a lot as this area is filled with lots of many topwinning sighthounds :-)

Tuusniemi group show

Tuusniemi group show was very succesful to our team; brother and sister Nikke and Minni represented us and they were placed as BOB (Nikke with his 3rd cc) and BB-3 (Minni). We are soooo pleased with their critiques and the way they are kept in a such good condition by their owners!! So congrats owners Taru and Katja :-)

Lohja group show

Faruk entered a group show in Lohja under a very strict judge mr. Ole Staunskjaer from Denmark. He gave Faruk a nice critique and excellent in grading :-)

Parkano group show

Got great news from the Parkano group show; Lego (Hi-Lite D'Light Bulldobas) entered his first show ever and is now a BOS and cc winner :-)) Miss Alli was there too and her result under judge mrs. Tuula Savolainen was also a lovely BB-2 placement with a res-cc. Congrats to Mikko and Noora and special hugs to Salla, who exprertly handled both dogs!! We are extremely proud!

Puppies have been named!

Our H-litter was microchipped today and the names are here: Hi-Lite Hot Rod, Hi-Lite Hillbilly, Hi-Lite Honky Tonk and the only girl is Hi-Lite Hula Hoops. All the puppies are spoken for.

Ilomantsi group show

It was -31 degrees outside but still decided to enter sweet master Nikke to Ilomantsi group show... Lucky me, as the judge ms. Soile Bister liked him a lot and gave him BOB and cc :-)) This was Nikke's 2nd cc! Thank you Sari for your company on our "extreme trip" ;)

Kajaani INT

The traditional Kajaani Int show. On Saturday group 2 was judged so I drove over there with Faruk. The judge, highly appreciated mrs. Elina Haapaniemi, fancied our little boy a lot giving him a flattering critique with CC, BOB-junior and BOB!! Decided to stay for the finals as there was also an unofficial Royal Canin competition for BOB-junior dogs. Mr. Harry Tast was the judge and Faruk was looking impressive as he placed our boy as BIS-4 junior out of some 40-50 dogs :-)))) In the final of group 2 Faruk was also shortlisted among the best 8 dogs. He has so much filled our dreams so far... Thank you judges :-)

On Sunday we had 2 basenjis entered; handsome Duke and sweet junior, miss Minni. This was the first for Duke to enter after he turned 2 years in December... And he did win BOB with a cacib and a cc which made him a brand new Finnish Champion!! Our gorgeous Duke <3  Minni didn't do much worse; she was 2nd best bitch with a res-cc and BOB-junior :-)) Had lovely time in there with Minni's co owner, my long time friend Katja. Thank you judge mr. Jarmo Vuorinen.

Faruk at Match Show

Faruk went to a local unofficial match show, and there were over 40 dogs in his class. Still he got a placement, as 4th!! This is a lovely achievement again, for a CAO ;)

Timon is daddy again

The lovely Yulara litter sired by our Timon is here!! 4 beautiful boys were born in Sweden and momma Ch. Yulara Itichika and the boys are doing great :-) Congratulations Mia and Monica!
