Our 2nd time at Turku show ever

And the result could not have been any better :)
The judge was mrs. Jill Peak (GBR) and she gave Ruuti a marvellous critique with a BOB and CACIB prizes!
Our juniors Luna and Vilho got lovely critiques as well, but both need time so the result for them was vg.

Our day went on to be even more perfect as the Group judge Soile Bister placed Ruuti as 2nd best in this huge group 5!!

Fun show at Lahti International

It has been a long time since the basenji entry has been as high as it was in Lahti, 29. The judge was mr. Arne Foss from Norway. The day was so much fun with many basenji people around the ring :)

First we got to show our junior boy Rommi, Hi-Lite Candy Cane, and he was excellent-3 in his class with a lovely critique! I was very pleased of the way how he showed!

Then Janne showed Ruuti, and the result was best male 1 with a cacib! In junior bitches Luna looked beautiful and lost only to her cousin Mimmi, gaining excellent with a cq!
It was Lilja's first time to enter the champion class with Mervi, and they won bb1 with a cacib!! So once again it was Ruuti vs Lilja competing for the best of breed - this time the winner was Ruuti!

Our breeder's group won BOB out of 2 :)

The day became even more perfect when Ruuti won the extremely tough group 5 under judge Leni Finne! We were so thrilled!!! Congrats all the owners of our lovely babies and thank you for all the hard work you have done with them - love you!!

HI-Lite on the top year 2014!

Last year was unbelievable in many ways. It included so many happy moments and memories e.g. Ruuti winning the Finnish Specialty and BOB at the World Winner show and Lilja winning BOB at the Estonian Specialty and Nordic Winner show.

All the great success resulted our dogs winning:
the best basenji male in Finland 2014 = Hi-Lite Saturday Night Fever "Ruuti" (2nd year in a row!!) He was also the #24 at the Finnish Kennel Club's ranking for all breeds!
the best basenji female in Finland 2014 = Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wow Factor "Lilja"
the best basenji veteran in Finland 2014 = Bulldobas No Regrets "Timon"

Also many other good placements to our breeding, which we are very very grateful of... Thank you alllllllllll our dear friends and puppy buyers - thank you.

So it was a clean sweap, once in a lifetime chance I guess. We will see what exciting things this year will bring to us?

Welcome to Finland little Vito

We want to introduce our newest addition, Kimwitu's Escamillo from Denmark. He is a supercute boy and we are thankful for Annemari Nielsen for him!
Vito, as he is called, is loved by Tuija and Aki, and he will have so much fun with his big brother Ruuti and Roni. Thank you dears!

Wonderful results for Luna and Rommi

We are excited to tell you the results from Tuusniemi Group show, where mrs. Ligita Zake gave BOB and BOS to our youngsters in junior class!! Luna "Hi-Lite Cotton Candy" won BOB with a cc and brother Rommi "Hi-Lite Candy Cane" was BOS with a cc as well! We are very proud of them both, thank you and congrats to Mari, Jenni and Jukka <3

First time for us at Turku show

But the result was not bad at all ;)
For some reason we have never been to Turku shows before. Now we decided to make an entry with Ruuti and Vilho the junior. The results could not have been better. Ruuti won BOB with a cacib and Vilho was 3rd best male with a res-cc!! Congrats to Vilho's owner Paula and his talented handler Katriina! Both dogs' critiques were excellent as well.
Very proud also for the progeny of our lovely H-litter boys. Hi-Lite Hot Rod's successful son Sternhimmels Orvar Odd was 2nd best male and became a champion on his first try out and Hi-Lite Honky Tonk's daughter Bulldobas Belle Bubbling Under was 2nd best bitch with a res-cc! Well done and congrats to both of you!

In the finals Ruuti was also shortlisted among best 8.

Our year started traditionally at Kajaani International show, and it was very cold once again ;)
The judge was mrs. Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen and our team did very well indeed! Seti "Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wise Guy" was BOB with a cacib and a cc, that made him a new FI & SE champion! Ruuti was 2nd best male and our own Timon 3rd best male and BOB-veteran. Junior girl Luna "Cotton Candy" was 2nd best bitch with a res-cc and Lilja 3rd best with a cacib!! Well done all!

Breeders group got honours prize and a lovely critique <3 We want to mention that Seti was the 11th champion bred by Hi-Lite :)


We want to thank Seti's family for everything and specially Tiia for showing him to his titles! Hopefully there are more to come ;)

Lilja visits Sweden again....

So she went to the Swedish Winner show with her co-owner Mervi and out of an entry of 28 she was 3rd best bitch with a cc and it makes her a brand new Nordic, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Champion!! The judge was mr. Allan Pepper from Canada.
We are very proud of this beautiful young girl. Thank you Mervi for everything!

Ruuti gains 2 x BOB at our Winner shows!

Sorry about the late update..

So we went to Helsinki to take part to the most important shows in Finland. On Saturday at the Helsinki Winner show the judge was mr. Jarmo Vuorinen and he gave the best of breed rosette to Ruuti, our superstar Hi-Lite Saturday Night Fever. We were so proud of him!!
In bitches the best girls of ours were Lilja, who was 4th best bitch and our super qute import Luru, Motion of Life At Wild Africa. She managed to win the junior class and gained title Helsinki Junior Winner 2014 and in the end was 2nd best bitch!! A wonderful day for our team :)

On Sunday it was time for the Finnish Winner show, and the judge was a long time basenji breeder Anneli Pukkila of Sternhimmels Basenjis. Ruuti did the same as a day before; winning BOB!! Our beautiful junior girl Luna was 3rd best bitch and Lilja again 4th best bitch. Our very own lovely veteran boy Timon was 4th best male, BOB-veteran and got a title FI VW-14!! Lovely success; thank you judges and all our friends!

We have NORDIC WINNERS!

Mervi, Tuija and I took a crazy trip to Oslo one week ago by car, and as we decided to drive the Northern route, it was a long one. 1700 kms per direction. Phuuh is an understatement.

On Friday it was time for the Nordic Winner show. The judge was mr. Per Lundström from Sweden. The entry was 31 and our results for 2 dogs were great. Ruuti was 3rd best male and Lilja was 2nd best bitch with a cc and res-cacib!

But on Sunday we truly did hit the jackpot out of 31 basenjis under judge mr. Martin Croeser from RSA. He loved Lilja and she was BOB and Ruuti was the winner of the males and BOS. They both got cacibs, ccs and titles Nordic Winner 2014!! Ruuti can also call himself a brand new No ch!!

We will not be having puppies this winter as Maisa was ultrasounded empty. But stay tuned for next year!

Our team also went to Jyväskylä Int show to be take the dogs to be judged by mr. Hans Lehtinen. The results were:

Seti winner of the intermediate clss with very good

Show break over

Last Sunday we went to Seinäjoki national all breed show. It was a long time since the latest show, so quite excited I was, specially with all the youngsters :)

First out was little master Rommi (HL Candy Cane) who got a lovely critique and was 2nd in junior class with an excellent and a cq, finally 3rd best male and a res-cc!! Well done Rommi!

Mikko was kind enought to have entered Duplo (HL Super Trouper) and they got an excellent in open class. Great job Mikko, keep it going!

Then it was our girls' turn. I was so happy and pleased about Luna (HL Cotton Candy). She won the junior class of 4 and got an excellent and was 3rd best bitch with a res-cc! Wondeful start for her career....

Lilja (HL Wow Factor) was 2nd best bitch with a cc <3 Our breeders group got this beautiful critique: "Very nice group with well balanced dogs with nice temperaments and typical swift movement. Very good details for the breed, I like this group very much." Thank you Mari, Jenni and Jukka for this super happy day!

Puppies expected 13th December!!

Maisa and I had a successful trip to Sweden last Saturday, where we had a date with Hiro and his owners. I was so happy to finally meet this boy and he was just drop dead gorgeous... almost 13 years! The mating was lovely, natural.

Maisa's season is here!!

Finally, our princess Maisa started her season. And in about one week we are hoping to have a visit in Sweden, to meet this gorgeous older gentleman :)

Tervakoski Int show

We were so happy to see dear Vilho again. He is such a tail wagging, handsome boy! The judge mr. Magnus Hagsted gave him a lovely critique and hp. Here Vilho is pictured at 8 months of age:



In the adults we showed only Lilja, who was 2nd best bitch with a cacib and a res-cc, and her beautiful critique can be read in her own page of show results.



So it was a lovely day and ended our show season of this summer. Now a break and then we start it again in two months. Before that, I hope we will have one pregnant Maisa at home :D

Ruuti double wins at Kouvola and Heinola shows

First it was time for Kouvola all breed show. The judge was all the way from Australia, mr. Ian Rasmussen. In the puppy class he gave the most flattering critique to our beautiful baby girl Luna!
And Ruuti was BOB :) This picture taken by Vanguardian basenjis. BOS Vanguardian Token Of Luck.



Ruuti was shortlisted in the group.

The next day at Heinola show Luna showed herself beautifully being 2nd best bitch puppy, with the most promising critique from the judge mr. Jarmo Vuorinen. Ruuti was BOB again!! And later Group-4 under judge mr. Hannu Talvi. We had a wonderful weekend!

Lilja BISS at the Estonian Specialty!!

I am very grateful to Mervi because she took Lilja to Estonia and they entered the Specialty over there. The judge was from South-Afrika, mr. Martin Croeser. The result was nothing less than Best In Show!! That is so wonderful and grear, I managed somehow to even cry a bit here at home :D
Lilja also won the prizes for the best head, tail and colour!!! She is our super girl. We congratulate Mervi and JP!



The BOS dog was our Maisa's future husband, almost 13 year old Hiro from Sweden (M Wami's American Fortune Hunter). So happy that he could do that great. Maisa, and I, can't wait to meet the gentleman soon...

World Dog Show 2014 in Helsinki

As a Finn I am very very proud of this magnificent and massive show that was held in Finland last weekend. A super venue! The success for us was unbelievable!! The entry of basenjis was 91 and there were even 10 breeders' groups entered! The honoured judge was mr. Johan Juslin from Finland.

Mr. Vilho "Hi-Lite Cola Candy" was the best Finnish and Finnish bred basenji male puppy being second with hp!! This pic by Kingwanas.



There were 9 bitch puppies and I am proud to tell the 2nd best was our Latvian import Luru "Motion of Life At Wild Africa" with a hp. Pic Tanja Taipalus.

BOB-puppy was Mimmi, a daughter of our Hi-Lite Honky Tonk, congrats Ari and Tipi!

We only showed two males, both in huge ch class of 19 dogs!!! Hi-Lite Hot Rod excellent and Hi-Lite Saturday Night Fever "Ruuti" Excellent 1!!! The choosing of the best male was soooooo nerve wrecking...but Ruuti got the cacib and is WORLD WINNER 2014!!!! Pic by Kingwanas.



In the bitches we had 3 girls entered. Our beautiful Russian visitor Taira "Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wonderwall" got vg. It was so lovely to see you Roman and Larissa, so sorry I didn't have more time....
Our super girl Lilja "Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wow Factor" won the great intermediate class and got the BITCH CC!!! Pics by JP.




The champion class of bitches was huge again, 16. But our Hertta "Hi-Lite Hula Hoops" was 2nd and was finally the res-cacib winner making her RES-WORLD WINNER!!




And, ta-daa, the BOB basenji at the WDS was Hi-Lite Saturday Night Fever!! What a stunning dog he is. And what a year for him, in June he won BISS at our Specialty under judge mrs. Sally Wallis. He is not only gorgeous looking, but his temperament is to die for.... Love him very very much. Thank you Tuija and Aki for owning him....



We were also very proud to show our breeder's group, which was the only one consisting of 4 basenjis, the others had 3. And Hi-Lite was placed 2nd!!! Very happy and proud!! Photo by JP.

Triple Int Show at our hometown Kuopio

It was once again time for the traditional Sawoshow in Kuopio, which we are very proud of. It gathers always a nice entry of many thousands from multiple countries. And of course many many of our friends <3
Most happy we were this time to have a visitor from Sweden, Aske "Hi-Lite Hillbilly" from our second litter. Thank you Magnus for coming with him! Besides Sweden, there were basenjis from Norway and Russia.
On Friday the judge was mrs. Heidi Kirschbieler from Austria. BOB-puppy was, like every day, a beautiful daugter of our Hi-Lite Honky Tonk. Congrats Ari and Mimmi! BOS-puppy every day was her brother, so congrats Helena!! We are very proud!

Helsinki & Saarijärvi Show Weekend

We decided to enter two shows with some slightly different dogs in the end of July. On Saturday we were at Helsinki National All Breed show and the judge was mrs. Hana Petrusova. In the puppies we showed siblings Vilho, who was 4th in the male puppies and sister Luna, who was 3rd.
Our boys did well too, Ruuti was 3rd best male and Rocky exc-3 with a cq in champion class. Girls did even better! Lilja was 3rd best bitch with a res-cc and Hertta was the best bitch! Wow!
Our breeder's group was BOB-breeder :)


On Sunday we were at Saarijärvi National All breed show. The judge was charming mr. Roberto Schill from Romania. Luna got an excellent critique and was BOB-puppy! Ruuti was BOB, Lilja BOS with a cc and Timon 2nd best male and BOB-veteran. So a lovely clean sweap!
But in the finals we did hit the jackpot, to us it definately was a jackpot!! Timon did it again by winning BIS-3 veteran under lovely judge mrs. Anca Giura!!!
And mr. Esa Ruotsalainen gave Group-1 to Ruuti!! Ruuti finished Best In Show 3 under judge mr. Roberto Schill again!!! Amazing day!! Congrats everyone for making it possible and thank you for taking such perfect care of your dogs, our loved ones...
